Leading a consortium of institutes and departments from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) has updated the “Solar PV Roadmap for Singapore”, which it had originally published in 2014. The updated report covers the timeframe until 2030, with a projection until 2050.

Cognizant of the growing popularity of solar photovoltaic (PV) installations amongst residential dwellers as well as building developers, and the corresponding demand for a comprehensive set of technical and regulatory information, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Building Construction Authority (BCA) got together earlier this year to work on integrating their respective solar manuals into an all-in-one reference guide for those who are keen on installing solar PV systems in Singapore.
Singapore wants to soak up more energy from the sun, amid growing global awareness on how fossil fuels are contributing to climate change.
By 2030, Singapore wants its solar capacity to be more than seven times as high as it is now, and increase the current 260 megawatt-peak (MWp) of installed solar capacity to 2 gigawatt-peak (GWp).
This is enough to meet the annual power needs of around 350,000 households in Singapore, or about 4 per cent of Singapore's total electricity demand today.
Get an overview of EMA's regulations and market registration schemes that apply to your solar PV.
1. Physically installing the solar PV system
2. Commissioning and turning on the solar PV system
3. Selling back excess solar generated electricity, if applicable

The BCA Green Mark Scheme was launched in January 2005 as an initiative to move Singapore's construction industry towards more environment-friendly buildings. It is intended to promote sustainability in the built environment and raise environmental awareness among developers, designers and builders when they start project conceptualisation and design, as well as during construction.
BCA Green Mark Certification Scheme
Building Developers can offer this device to the residents as part of the Green Mark Certification Scheme and enjoy GM point under the Innovation Category. This device probably costs the lowest in terms of $ per GM point and at the same time it is something useful that the residents can benefit.
BCA Green Mark certification supports green buildings movement by encouraging sustainable buildings in Singapore built environment. Moving forward, BCA encourages Super Low Energy (SLE) Buildings and Healthier Workplaces.
